Overview
Herman's practice involves all aspects of transactional real estate including the acquisition, financing and disposition of income producing properties, leasing of office, retail and industrial properties, negotiation of complex joint venture agreements for commercial and residential development projects and large portfolio transactions. Recently, he has devoted a substantial portion of his practice on the representation of condominium developers in residential and multiuse condominium projects as well as on the conversion of existing multifamily housing into residential condominiums. He has also spent a considerable amount of time advising clients on a variety of Commercial Mortgage-Backed Security (CMBS) issues, including the application of appropriate originating, underwriting and servicing standards and formulating strategy to efficiently resolve nonperforming CMBS loan issues.
During a four year stint away from the firm, Herman organized, developed and coordinated the establishment of several international joint venture businesses as Senior Corporate Counsel for the United States and Asia divisions of Flextronics Network Services, which is based in Stockholm, Sweden. While at Flextronics Network Services, he was responsible for navigating the legal, regulatory and tax issues that apply to certain foreign transactions and investments in India, Singapore, Philippines and Brazil.
Herman clerked for the Honorable Nauman S. Scott, United States District Court, Western District of Louisiana. Before practicing law, he worked in the audit practice of a national accounting firm. Herman's broad range of business experience, coupled with his financial background, make him a valuable problem solving resource in complicated real estate transactions.
