Overview

Jim served as Munsch Hardt's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1998 to 2005. He is currently a member of the Compensation Committee. The Dallas Business Journal has named Jim one of the six most influential leaders in the Dallas/Fort Worth legal community and one of the top 15 business defense attorneys in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. Thomson Reuters has named him a Texas Super Lawyer and his peers have selected him for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in Commercial Litigation. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, trade secrets, trademarks and covenants not to compete. In addition to his litigation docket, Jim regularly provides experienced counsel to companies seeking practical business solutions to difficult legal problems.

Jim joined Munsch Hardt in 1986 after practicing with a major Chicago, Illinois law firm. He is litigation counsel of choice for numerous major corporations as well as for significant local businesses. Jim has represented companies ranking among the nation's leaders in the fields of telecommunications, hospitality, restaurants, computer services, software development, financial services, engineering and manufacturing. He has tried cases in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels from coast to coast.

Articles & Speeches

Jim is a frequent speaker to trade and bar association groups on the subjects of trade secrets and covenants not to compete. His articles on law firm management have appeared in the National Law Journal and Texas Lawyer. Jim is also a published novelist. His first book, Something That Lasts (Integrity), was released in May, 2006. His second, Forsaken (Broadman & Holman), was released in October, 2008. His third, Double Cross (Broadman & Holman), was released in October, 2009.
