William (B.J.) Moore

Overview

B.J. grew-up as a “military brat,” and served in the U.S. Army as a Cavalry Scout. After B.J.’s military service, he used his G.I. Bill and worked various jobs, from gas-station attendant to delivery boy, to pay his way through college. Before starting law school, he worked as a private investigator performing investigations relating to insurance fraud and managed the Florida operations of a regional investigation firm.

For the past ten years, B.J. has specialized in prosecuting and defending complex litigation cases. During that time, he has handled a broad range of matters, including cases involving claims for breach of contract, fraud, theft of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, products liability, construction defects, personal injury, copyright infringement, and violations of various securities acts. He currently serves as the firm’s Law School Hiring Co-chair and is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

Representative Cases:

  • Summary judgment in excess of $7 million on a bank’s breach of contract claims, while defeating all of the defendants’ counterclaims
  • Complete defense verdict for his client in jury trial on claims asserted by billboard company against advertising agency
  • Summary judgment in defense of case involving an allegedly defective component part of water heater.
  • Summary judgment in excess of $2.5 million on a bank’s breach of contract claims
  • Summary judgment on damage claims in excess of $1 million for lost profits, overhead, and consequential damages in construction case
  • Dismissal of lawsuit under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 12(b)(6) in partnership dispute for claims of slander and outrage
  • Summary judgment in partnership dispute on claims of breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, fraudulent transfer, quantum meruit, civil conspiracy, and exemplary damages
  • Dismissal of counterclaims under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 12(b)(6) asserted by various defendants against telecommunications company for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and various ERISA claims
  • Dismissal of federal lawsuit based on court not having personal jurisdiction over defendant
