Munsch Hardt announces Ben Wheatley as the new Managing Shareholder for the firm’s Austin office, effective immediately. In this role, Wheatley will also serve as a member of the firm’s Management Committee.
Wheatley has been with the firm for 5 years, serves on the American Arbitration Association Roster of Neutrals for Construction cases as well as the Editorial Board of the State Bar of Texas’ Construction Law Section, and he is a regular contributor to national construction law journals. Earlier this month he was included in the inaugural class of lawyers board certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Wheatley has more than 25 years’ experience litigating complex construction and environmental matters, negotiating and drafting construction and design contracts, serving as in-house counsel for international firms, and working on issues concerning the practice of architecture, engineering, and project construction in all 50 states, Mexico and South America. Most recently, Ben assisted a publicly traded company with the development, relocation and construction of its corporate, industrial and distribution facilities from Southern California to North Texas.
“I am honored by the trust my colleagues have placed in me, and I look forward to continuing to build momentum for the office,” said Wheatley. “I currently am working with our CEO and the Management Committee to update the strategic plan for the Austin office. With strong, local controversy and transactional practices that span a number of industries, our primary focus will be attracting attorneys who want to build or expand on their practices on business terms that make sense in the Central Texas marketplace.”
