Sep 8, 2016

Munsch Hardt is pleased to announce the arrival of the firm’s newest Austin-based shareholder, David C. Lawrence. Practicing for more than a decade, Lawrence brings a wealth of experience in technology focused, complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, including trade secret disputes, patent, trademark and copyright infringement, complex contract disputes, consumer class actions and antitrust actions.

“We are thrilled to welcome David to the firm. With dedicated experience in complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, he is already a valuable addition to Munsch Hardt,” said Phil Appenzeller, CEO of Munsch Hardt. “Our firm’s Management Committee is dedicated to growing our Austin office to meet the needs of our clients and the thriving business community. We hope to continue attracting local, top tier legal talent like David in the months to come.”

Recognized for five consecutive years as a Texas Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” Lawrence offers experience in both prosecution and defense matters before state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration. Lawrence represents clients in medical device, financial services, telecommunications, and computer hardware and software industries, involved in intellectual property, complex commercial and class actions.

“Austin’s creative energy is a breeding ground for startups and entrepreneurs. This culture allows attorneys in the intellectual property space to remain active while ensuring our clients and their work are protected,” Lawrence said. “Munsch Hardt’s entrepreneurial environment offers me the ideal platform to grow my practice. I’m very eager to work with the attorneys here in Austin and around the firm so that we can leverage our various skills to the benefit of our clients.”

Lawrence joins the firm from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP, where he served in the firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Litigation sections since 2003. He received his Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas. He is actively involved in the Austin business and legal community, including serving in leadership roles with the Austin Young Lawyers Association and Austin Bar Association and several other local non-profits.
