Law360, New York (September 16, 2016, 1:28 PM EDT) -- Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr PC has added a technology-focused intellectual property litigator previously with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as a shareholder in its Austin, Texas, office, the firm has announced.
David C. Lawrence will focus his practice on representing clients in industries such as telecommunications, medical devices and computer hardware and software in complex commercial and IP litigation, according to the firm’s Sept. 8 announcement.
Lawrence has experience in IP-related matters such as allegations of copyright, patent and trademark infringement, trade secret and complex contract disputes and consumer class actions, according to the firm. He also deals with antitrust matters and arbitration, according to Munsch Hardt.
“Munsch Hardt’s entrepreneurial environment offers me the ideal platform to grow my practice,” said Lawrence in a statement. “I’m very eager to work with the attorneys here in Austin and around the firm so that we can leverage our various skills to the benefit of our clients.”
Lawrence received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, according to the firm. He is admitted to practice in the Fifth and Tenth Circuits, the Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas and the state of Texas, according to Munsch Hardt.
Lawrence is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Association, the Austin Young Lawyers Association and co-founder and treasurer of the sports and entertainment law section of the Austin Bar Association, according to the firm.
He previously served in Akin Gump’s complex commercial litigation and intellectual property litigation practices since 2003, according to Munsch Hardt.

Munsch Hardt also has practices such as admiralty and marine, construction, energy, environmental, health care, immigration, labor and employment, real estate and tax law, according to the site.
