A former Mesquite City Council member will now serve as a municipal court judge.

Greg Noschese was sworn in as an alternate judge, joining presiding Judge Detra Hill and assistant Judge Warren Nystrom.

Noschese’s appointment will allow greater scheduling flexibility to meet the current workload of arraignments, warrants, emergency protective orders and court docket preparation, the city said in a statement. Noschese served on the City Council from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2012 to 2019.

“Councilman Noschese served our city for many years with distinction and dedication,” Mayor Bruce Archer said. “I know that Judge Noschese will continue that excellence in his new leadership role and I’m proud of his continued service to the citizens of Mesquite.”

Noschese works for Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, representing clients and supervising associates in commercial litigation.

His appointment follows the recent swearing-in of Hill, who is the city’s first female and first Black presiding judge.
