The Texas law firm Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr has expanded its Houston office at downtown's Pennzoil Place for the third time since moving in 10 years ago.

The firm, which has grown to nearly 50 attorneys in Houston, doubled its space to nearly 41,000 square feet in the North Tower at 700 Milam. Previous expansions were completed in 2014 and 2018.

Designed by architecture firm Gensler, the newly renovated office features an internal stairwell connecting the eighth and ninth floors, 80 attorney offices, Zoom rooms and flexible size conference rooms. Areas for collaboration include a work café, an indoor putting green and a bar for events. The design features glass doors and walls to let in natural light.

“We are thriving in all practice areas, and this new, bright, and connected space will help promote the friendly, hard-working environment that we work so hard to maintain,” said John D. Cornwell, managing shareholder of the Houston Office, in an announcement. “As Houston and, generally, Texas markets continue to grow, we look forward to adding more top talent into our unique culture in order to exceed client expectations.”

Miller LaPoint served as the general contractor on the office build out. Stream Realty Partners assisted Munsch Hardt with the lease. Transwestern handles office leasing for the building owner, Chicago-based Metropolis Investment Holdings.

Since Phil Appenzeller took over as CEO in 2014, Munsch Hardt has grown from 109 attorneys, including 17 in Houston, to nearly 160 attorneys across offices in Dallas, Houston and Austin. The Houston office has added litigation, bankruptcy and corporate attorneys in addition to health care and construction practice groups.

“Our sustained growth in Houston is evidence we are seeing the fulfillment of our strategic plan,” said Phil C. Appenzeller, CEO of Munsch Hardt. “And, in today’s market of continued law firm consolidation, Munsch Hardt, instead, intends to deepen its roots and grow strategically.”
