Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. (Munsch Hardt), a Texas-based commercial law firm with offices in Dallas, Houston and Austin, today announced that the firm’s Austin office is using the funds previously earmarked for its annual holiday party to adopt three families through the SafePlace Shelter. The firm has donated time and money to the center over the years, and this year has opted to focus on those in need during these tough economic and stressful times.
SafePlace is a shelter and resource center that exists to end sexual and domestic violence through safety, healing, prevention and social change. SafePlace offers an emergency shelter, 24-hour hotline, hospital programs and legal services as well as counseling services, transitional housing, advocacy and life skills training to help provide the resources and skills to stay safe. SafePlace’s disability services, school-based services and community education work are all focused on preventing violence and promoting safe and healthy relationships. The program seeks to work with others to promote alternatives to the attitudes, behaviors, and policies that perpetuate the acceptance of interpersonal violence, especially violence against women.
SafePlace has assigned three families to Munsch Hardt this holiday season. The firm is responsible for providing age and need-appropriate gifts for each family member to help them through what could be a difficult holiday. “In today’s economy, there are so many places to focus our efforts that make a real difference for people,” said Russ Munsch, one of the firm's founders and a Shareholder in the Austin office. “We look forward to bringing smiles to the faces of families in need and also to remembering the real reason for the season – the best gift of all is the act of giving itself.”
