Overview

Jamil is a Chambers-ranked trial lawyer who represents clients in complex commercial, intellectual property, insolvency, and energy disputes in trial and appellate courts throughout Texas and across the country. He has experience across a range of industries, including energy, financial services, health care, real estate, and technology and telecommunications. Jamil currently serves as leader of Munsch Hardt’s Intellectual Property practice group.

His practice includes:

Commercial Litigation: Representing businesses in large-scale commercial disputes involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, business torts, and other high-stakes litigation matters.

Bankruptcy Litigation: Representing creditors, debtors, and other stakeholders in disputes arising from bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings, with experience trying cases in district and bankruptcy courts nationwide.

Energy Litigation: Representing energy companies and market participants in high-profile litigation and regulatory disputes, including matters involving ERCOT and Fortune 500 energy companies.

Intellectual Property Litigation: Handling patent, trade secret, trademark, copyright, and technology-related disputes, including jury trials and appellate matters involving proprietary technology and business information.

Jamil handles high-stakes disputes that deliver meaningful results for his clients. Over his more-than-30-year career, he has served as lead trial counsel for major businesses in complex matters in state and federal courts nationwide. Notably, he served as lead counsel for Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) in multiple disputes arising from Texas’s historic Winter Storm Uri. One of those matters was considered the largest bankruptcy trial in the country at the time and resulted in a recovery of more than $1.9 B for ERCOT. He also served as lead trial and appellate counsel in the adversary proceeding filed against ERCOT by the largest independent retail energy provider in Texas for $335 MM, securing an appellate victory in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
