(DALLAS) – Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. (Munsch Hardt) is proud to announce Monte Hurst, an accomplished employment litigation attorney, has joined the Firm’s Dallas office as Shareholder in the Labor & Employment practice group.
“Employers today are managing a constantly evolving workplace landscape – from wage and hour compliance and leave requirements to workplace investigations and high-stakes litigation,” said E. David Coligado, Chief Executive Officer of Munsch Hardt. “Monte brings decades of experience advising businesses on day-to-day employment challenges and defending them when disputes arise. His practical, business-focused approach aligns seamlessly with how we serve our clients.”
For more than 30 years, Hurst has represented employers in a range of employment disputes, including claims involving discrimination and retaliation, wage and hour issues, the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), breach of contract, defamation, fraud, and alleged fiduciary breaches.
In addition to litigation, Hurst counsels management teams and in-house legal departments on proactive compliance strategies designed to reduce risk and support business objectives. His advisory work includes employee discipline and termination decisions, workplace investigations, policy development, performance management, accommodations, and executive compensation matters. He also conducts management training on topics such as harassment prevention, documentation best practices, and evolving workplace requirements.
“Effective employment counsel starts with understanding how a company operates – its culture, its workforce, and its growth objectives,” Hurst said. "The legal challenges facing a healthcare provider are vastly different from those of a financial services firm or technology company. Having represented employers across such a broad spectrum of industries, I understand that a 'one-size-fits-all' approach doesn't work in employment law. As I step into this new role with Munsch Hardt, my focus remains on delivering tailored, business-focused counsel that helps organizations manage workforce challenges, reduce litigation exposure, and protect their operational flexibility."
Active in the Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas, Hurst frequently speaks and writes on employment law developments. He has been named to D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in Dallas” twelve times, most recently in 2025, recognized among “America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators” for Northern Texas in 2020, and included on the “Texas Super Lawyers” list by Thomson Reuters for the past 13 years.
Hurst earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston and his B.A. in political science from Tulane University. He is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
