Munsch Hardt Shareholders Named Texas Business Litigation Super Lawyers

Texas-based Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. is proud to announce three of its shareholders have been named among “Texas Business Litigation Super Lawyers” by Texas Monthly and Law & Politics Magazine. Steven A. Harr (Dallas), D. Ronald Reneker (Dallas), Fred Wahrlich (Houston) and David Mattka (Austin), have been named to the 2008 list of Business Litigation Super Lawyers.

Super Lawyers® names Texas' top lawyers as chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Law & Politics. 2008 Texas Super Lawyers is based on surveys of the more than 55,000 attorneys across the state who have been licensed to practice for five years or more. The goal was to select as Super Lawyers the top 5 percent of Texas attorneys in more than 60 practice areas. Texas Super Lawyers is published annually in the October issues of TEXAS MONTHLY and Texas Super Lawyers.

Dallas:
Steven A. Harr is one of the firm's founding shareholders, currently serves as General Counsel and has served in virtually every position of responsibility, including Chief Executive Officer for four years, Section Head for of the Litigation/Dispute Resolution group for over 15 years and as a member of our Compensation and Management Committees. His practice focus is on commercial/business litigation, arbitration, mediation and federal/state receiverships. Steve has represented individuals, companies, partnerships and other business interests in litigation disputes involving: intellectual property disputes including patent, copyright, trademark and trade dress; fiduciary relations; account collections; sales, warranty and deceptive trade practice; partner/shareholder relations; banking; lender liability; real estate sales, development and leasing; arbitration; building and industrial construction; surety; manufacturing; telecommunications; trade secrets; employment covenants; housing discriminations and securities fraud. Aside from the preparation and presentation of jury and non-jury trials, Steve's work includes arbitration, mediation and receiverships. He has completed the mediator training sponsored by the Dallas Bar Association and has mediated over 90 cases. He is also conducts private arbitrations and serves as an arbitrator forthe American Arbitration Association. He has worked extensively in Federal and State receiverships and he has served several Federal District Courts as a court appointed Examiner in large securities fraud cases. Steve has been included in the list of Super Lawyers since 2003. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University.


D. Ronald Reneker has focused his practice on business litigation on both sides of the docket. He also handles insurance coverage matters on behalf of both carriers and policyholders, and has often represented lawyers and law firms in matters relating to professional liability and law firm withdrawals and dissolutions. Ron has tried numerous jury and non-jury cases, has handled many appeals and has served as counsel in arbitrations. In addition, Ron serves as an expert witness in the areas if professional responsibility and attorneys' fees, is an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs. He is also a lecturer in law at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He has been included in the list of Super Lawyers since 2003. Ron earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Tulsa and his Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law.

Houston:
Fred Wahrlich has been practicing law for over 20 years during which time he has represented individuals and businesses in both the state and federal courts in complex litigation matters, including business disputes, breaches of contract, oil and gas matters, fraud, fiduciary duty claims, insurance coverage disputes, real estate, construction, employment discrimination and environmental related matters. Before joining Munsch Hardt, Fred served as the Managing Shareholder and head of the litigation section for another Houston-based firm and for a limited period of time, Fred ventured into an in-house practice where he served as Assistant General Counsel and Acting General Counsel for TransTexas Gas Corporation. Fred has also served as a briefing attorney to the Texas Court of Appeals, First Supreme Judicial District from 1984 through 1985. He has been included on the list of Super Lawyers since 2006. Fred earned a Bachelor of Arts from American Technical Institute and his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law.

Austin:
David C. Mattka practices in all aspects of complex business litigation, with a particular emphasis in business tort, contract, director and officer liability, shareholder derivative actions and securities fraud litigation involving investment transactions, including corporate mergers and acquisitions, commercial mortgage backed securitizations, collateralized loan obligations, private equity and hedge funds, venture capital syndications, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint ventures. David also represents corporate boards, directors and officers, audit committees, special litigation committees and other board committees in internal investigations addressing liability, disclosure, remediation and compliance issues in connection with actual or potential litigation claims. David has been responsible for a broad range of litigation involving complex business disputes in various substantive areas, including: corporate/securities; real estate; intellectual property, copyright and trade secrets; franchising; business torts; partnership disputes; antitrust; bankruptcy and banking. David has served as lead counsel in more than 30 trials in federal and state courts in Texas, California, Indiana, New York, Michigan and Washington, D.C. and arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and the National Association of Securities Dealers. David has been included on the list of Super Lawyers since 2003. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University.
