Sep 16, 2020

(DALLAS) Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. (Munsch Hardt) is pleased to announce the addition of Jamil N. Alibhai, a well-respected complex litigation and intellectual property attorney. Alibhai joins Munsch Hardt from Munck Wilson Mandala, LLP where he served as a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and Chair of its Complex Litigation/Dispute Resolution group.

“Jamil is a hard-working, highly regarded attorney who brings extensive experience and strong leadership skills to the Firm. He is exactly the type of attorney we hope to attract, and we are delighted he has found a new home at Munsch Hardt,” said Phil Appenzeller, CEO. “As our normal recruiting efforts recommence, we are optimistic this is just the beginning of an active and successful lateral recruiting season for our Firm.”

With 25 years of experience, Alibhai’s practice focuses on both complex commercial litigation and all facets of intellectual property disputes. From a litigation perspective, Alibhai has represented both individuals and businesses, including serving as lead trial counsel for a number of the largest companies in American business. He also has handled corporate and partnership disputes, securities issues, lending issues, insurance and surety coverage issues, hospitality industry matters, bankruptcies and adversary proceedings and receiverships.

From an intellectual property litigation perspective, Alibhai has represented clients with cases involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and other intellectual property matters. In 2015, he was named a Winning Litigator by National Law Journal for his work on a patent infringement and stolen trade secret case that ranked as the 16th largest ($88MM) verdict in the nation.

“This is an exciting time to be joining Munsch Hardt, as the Firm is celebrating its 35th anniversary,” stated Alibhai. “I have always held a high opinion of Munsch Hardt and its attorneys, as I think they’ve positioned the Firm to be an increasing force in the Texas legal market. I look forward to trying complex litigation cases with the Munsch Hardt team and moving this great firm forward.”

Among his peers, Alibhai consistently is honored as a “Texas Super Lawyer” (Thomson Reuters) and among the “Best Lawyers in America” (Woodward White, Inc.) in commercial litigation. Earlier this year he was included on the list of IAM Patent 1000 Recommended Professionals. He serves as the Secretary and a Board Member for Make-A-Wish® North Texas.

Alibhai earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and his B.A. in Economics and B.A. in Political Science from New York University.
